Day 1 – 3rd Dec, Sunday - Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station to Phuentsholing |Overnight at Phuentsholing Reach Bagdogra airport/NJP Railway Station by 2.00 pm. After a brief introduction, we will catch a cab to the border town of Phuentsholing. It is a 4-hour drive thorough acres of tea gardens and countryside. Once we reach the border a huge ornate gate welcomes us to Bhutan. We will spend the night at Phuentsholing.
Day 2 – 4th Dec, Monday – Phuentsholing to Thimpu |Overnight at Thimpu After breakfast, we will go to process our permit. After all the formalities, we will visit Crocodile Farm (Unlike most farms elsewhere where they are bred for their valuable skins, the Norgay farms aim is to increase their number and release them into their natural habitat) and the Kharbandi Gompa monastery which provides great views of the Phuentsholing town and the plains of West Bengal before proceeding towards Thimpu. We drive through spectacular mountain views and peaceful countryside to reach Thimpu. After checking into the hotel, we will explore the city on foot. We will spend the night at Thimpu.
Day 3 – 5th Dec, Tuesday – Thimpu local site seeing |Overnight at Thimpu After breakfast, we will proceed to make permit for Dochula Pass and Phunaka for the next day and then go for local sightseeing. We will visit the SAARC Building, National Library which contains some great historic photos, National Memorial Chorten (you will find elderly Bhutanese people circumambulating the chorten throughout the day, it is a great place to observe some Bhutanese tradition), Buddha Point (it has a massive statue of Shakyamuni measures in at a height of 51.5 meters, making it one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world), Tashichho Dzong(A Buddhist monastery and fortress which is the office the Bhutanese government) and Folk Heritage Museum (which provides fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life). We will visit the bustling Thimpu market late evening. Overnight at Thimpu.
Day 4 – 6th Dec, Wednesday – Visit Dochula Pass, Phunaka Site seeing | Overnight at Punakha In the morning, we will drive to Dochula pass (3080 m) after breakfast. It provides a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. Here we will stop at the 108 Dochula Chortens which were built by Queen Mother to honour the Bhutanese soldiers who were killed when fighting the rebels in 2003. Later we will drive to Paro to visit Punakha Dzong often referred to as the “Palace of Happiness” is arguably one of the most beautiful dzong in the country, it is built at the junction of Pho Chu (Father River) & Mo Chu (Mother River). There is a beautiful suspension bridge (longest in Bhutan) near the Punakha Dzong and gives a breath-taking view of the surrounding area. Later we will visit the Chimi Monastery also known as the “temple of fertility”. Overnight at Punakha.
Day 5 – 7th Dec, Thursday – Punakha to Paro | Overnight at Paro After breakfast, we will drive to Paro. On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park - The park contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and features a huge species of plants and animals including endangered species. After checking into the hotel visit the National Museum which has an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc, Rinpung Dzong (Rinchen Pung Dzong) meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels". The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Overnight at Paro
Day 6 – 8th Dec, Friday – Excursion to Chellela pass, Paro local sightseeing | Overnight at Paro After breakfast excursion trip to Chele-La-Pass (13,088 ft.) & Haa Valley – the highest motorable road in Bhutan. Enjoy the scenic beauty & memorable landscapes from Chele-La-Pass. Back to Paro. We are free to explore Paro and its beautiful cafes in the evening. Overnight stay at Paro.
Day 7 – 9th Dec, Saturday – Trek to Tiger’s Nest | Overnight at Paro After an early breakfast, we will hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery or the Paro Taktsang. It hangs on a cliff and stands above a beautiful forest of blue pine and rhododendrons. it is a 6-hour hike both ways. A temple complex was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century. Padmasambhava is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan and is the tutelary deity of the country. Today, Paro Taktsang is the best known of the thirteen Taktsang or "tiger lair" caves in which he meditated.
Day 8 – 10th Dec, Sunday – Paro to Phuentsholing | Overnight at Paro After breakfast, checkout from hotel, and drive to Phuentsholing. We will explore the town in the evening. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
Day 9 – 11th Dec, Monday – Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station Like all the good things this trip must also come to an end. After breakfast, checkout from hotel, and drive to NJP Railway Station/Bagdogra Airport. Say your goodbye with a promise to meet again.

Extra pair of sleeper or sandal • Thermal inners • Hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm • Flashlight • Personal care stuff, medicines which you require usually
Things to Keep in mind while in Bhutan • Bhutan has a very strict policy about smoking. Smoking or sale of tobacco products is completely prohibited inside Bhutan. The fine is high and it also includes jail time if you are caught. So be aware of this rule. • When you enter Dzongs you should wear full pants and shirts with collars or full sleeves. The easiest option is to always carry a jacket and just wear it when needed. • The official language of Bhutan is Dzongkha but pretty much everyone can understand and speak Hindi and English. • Bhutan reformed from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy in 2007, but the royals are still perceived as incarnations of gods. Criticizing them as akin to blasphemy. • It is very easy to get a local pre-paid GSM sim. You just need your permit and activation is instant. • The local currency is the Ngultrum, which is pegged to the Indian Rupee. • One must carry cash at all times as except the high end luxury hotels and restaurants debit cards and credit cards are not accepted widely
