The Great Peppersauce Campout
From the folks that bring you the Great Cowtown Campout, it's The GREAT PEPPERSAUCE BIKEPACK! Do "bicycle rides with friends" sound cooler than "racing" to you? Love bikes but crave adventure over competition? This ride is for you. Let's go.
This ride IS more challenging than the Cowtown Campout, but sometimes a good challenge is just what people need.
This ride is on a Friday. Request the day off for adventure!
------- HEY WAIT, WHAT THE WHAT? ------- A Gravel Grinder race is kind of a mixture between a road race and a mountain bike race. There's an awesome one going down in September and we're gonna ride out to it the creative way, up Redington Pass and around the backside of the Catalina Mountains. The Mount Lemmon Gravel Grinder is part of the Peppersauce Roundup, a big celebration out at Arizona Zipline with bikes, trail running, beer, live music, and awesome people. Oh... and ZIPLINING!
So yeah, a group of people are getting together for an adventure out to a party. It's not an EASY bike ride by any means, we've got a long, hilly road in front of us. Redington is steep... but all great challenges come with great rewards and this ride is through beautiful country and it's going to be completely bad ass and totally doable with the right mind set.
------- IM SOMEONE THAT NEEDS TO KNOW ALOT, HOW IS IT HAPPENING?: ------- Mile 0: A social ride is leaving from Ordinary Bike Shop at 2:00PM on Friday 9/22/17to ride out to the Mt. Lemmon Gravel Grinder at Arizona Zipline Adventures!
Mile 20: We'll get onto the dirt at Redington Pass and start climbing and I mean CLIMBING for 9 miles up the dirt road. Huge views, amazing roads, it's awesome out there. This is the heroic part of our ride. We'll be looking forward to Piety Hill, though.
Mile 35: THE ORDINARY BIKE SHOP COMFORT STATION Mile Point 35 is a point of celebration. Why? Two reasons... We'll have snacks, cold beverages, and all kinds of ways to get comfortable at Piety Hill on Mile 35. ALSO, Mile 35 marks the point in the route where we'll be going DOWNHILL FOR 20 MILES! AMAZING. It's downhill all the way to San Manuel from the Comfort Station.
Mile 55: San Manuel, Arizona. We'll grab a snack and a drink at the store and remount our bikes for the final stretch of the ride.
Mile 70: THE PEPPERSAUCE ROUNDUP @ Arizona Zipline Adventures. We've made it! Let the cold beer, warm food, and good times rain down upon our traveled and tired group. The folks from American Bunnyhop have procured a pretty great campsite for us.

------- WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? ------- - A good attitude. We've got hills ahead of us and long roads. They're gonna be awesome. - A bicycle that is capable of riding on dirt roads. We suggest at least a 38mm or 1.5" wide tire. These roads are usually in really good shape. - Water and ride food. We'll be giving away some ride snacks and stuff at the start of the ride and at the MP35 Comfort Station, but you should be eating and drinking the whole time you're riding. - Something to sleep in, we suggest a hammock or bivy. They're light to carry on your bike and comfy to sleep in.
There are restrooms, food, shade, A/C, etc at Arizona Zipline where we'll be camping.
