Kashmir – The Paradise on Earth is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world with its pristine beauty. Located in the lap of the Himalayas, Kashmir has the luxury to boast about so many things at once. It is also a paradise for the adventure lovers as well. We are talking about the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek which is by no surprise is on the list of all the adventure enthusiasts around the world. One can view the hidden beauty of Kashmir that lies in the valleys which are not easily accessible by road.

Major Attractions: Trekking through the picturesque valleys. Camping at the river banks. Witnessing the beauty of snowcapped mountains. High altitude trek to Gangabal.

Day 1: Thursday , 03rd August 2017 DRIVE FROM SRINAGAR TO SONAMARG (9,000ft, 4 hrs.) · Drive from Srinagar to Sonamarg which will be approximately 4 hours. · Before we head on to the trek, taking a trip to places in Srinagar like Dal Lake, Houseboats, Gardens etc will be worthy of your buffer time ahead of the Trek. · We then spend the night at campsite in Sonamarg.

Day 2: Friday , 04th August 2017 TREK FROM SONAMARG TO NICHNAI (11,500ft, 6 hrs.) · We are now in for a great time with the start of the Kashmir Great lakes Trek. We need to have breakfast and load ourselves to begin the day. · At just 3-4 km distance is a Dhaba where we can buy packaged food for the trek. Here onwards, the trek begins alongside the Sindh River through the Forest filled with Pine and Maple trees. · After trekking for a few hours, you will have your rewards for day 2 in the form of the picturesque Sonamarg valley, colorful flowers, the view of the Himalayan range and the Vishansar Lake.

Day 3: Saturday , 05th August 2017 TREK FROM NICHNAI TO VISHANSAR LAKE (12,500ft, 6 hrs) · The trek towards the Nichnai Pass begins and the journey unravels the lush green valleys of the region. · We continue hiking through the banks of the river and arrive at Nichnai Pass which is located at 13,500 ft above the sea level. · It is now time to witness the beauty of this place with snow covered mesmerizing peaks. · Gaze to the left of the trial and we will find the Himalayan range meticulous for a perfect picture. · Overnight stay at camp.

Day 4: Sunday , 06th August 2017 Exploration Day (12,500 ft, 6 hrs) · Explore the Vishansar Lake and its backdrop which is just a few minutes away from the campsite. · Some prefer to capture the adventure in their minds and some in their DSLR’s. And that is why we will be conducting a photography workshop “Stop Shooting Auto” for the clickers in the group. · Also explore the nearby deep blue Kishansar Lake.

Day 5: Monday , 07th August 2017 TREK FROM VISHANSAR LAKE TO GADSAR (13,750 ft, 6 hrs) · We now start trekking passing by the Vishansar Lake towards Gadsar which is the highest point of the trek. · Once you have reached the point you get a double delight view of the Vihansar Lake and the Kishansar Lake together. · What’s more beautiful is the lush greenery on one side and snow Cliffs on the other of the Gadsar Lake.

Day 6: Tuesday , 08th August 2017 TREK FROM GADSAR TO SATSAR (12,500 ft, 6 hrs) · The trail is abundant in colorful flowers between the month of July and August. En route, we will have to share our ID proof at the army check post. · Satsar is a collection of 7 lakes which are interconnected and usually characterized by the ice cold water. · We then can rest at the campsite nearby the lake.

Day 7: Wednesday, 09th August 2017 TREK FROM SATSAR TO GANGABAL TWIN LAKES (12,500 ft, 6 hrs) · Get ready for the tough job as we head on to an 11km trek which will continue for almost 6 hours through the rocky terrains full of boulders. · During this tough trail there is somethi8ng soothing on offer to our eyes in the form of 4 lakes, Mt.Harmukh and its glaciers. · After crossing the last lake at Satsar we descend till the Gangabal Lake which is one of the largest lake sin the trek. · It is also our destination for the day.

Day 8: Thursday , 10th August 2017 TREK FROM GANGABAL TO NARANAG (12,500 ft, 6 hrs) & NARANAG TO SRINAGAR · Keep your energy levels high, for it is the last day of the Kashmir Great lakes Trek. · Enjoy every bit of the trekking alongside the stream and the Pine Forest for you are now heading towards the final stop. · The trek is a descent till the last point which is Naranag. Be cautious and take care of your knees and ankles, because “All is well if it ends well”. Post Lunch Head back to Srinagar Bus Depot.

Don’t forget your ID proofs. We also suggest you carry a couple of photocopies of the same.

Sun cap 1 scarf/neck-warmer/balaclava 1 Light towel Personal toilet kit – Must contain Face-wash, Toothpaste, toothbrush, Cold cream, Lip balm and sun screen (SPF 40+) 1 Toilet paper roll 2 water bottles (1 Litre each) Headlamp or torch with fresh pair of batteries Personal medical kit Dark sunglasses (U/V protected) 1 Walking stick Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D powder Snacks & Biscuits

Monsoon Safety Measures - Put clothes, money, camera, phone etc in polythenes while packing - Wear shoes with good grips - Use repellents to keep bugs away - Make note of nearest railway station, bus stop, taxi stand etc. - Do not stray away from your group during the trek - Keep family & friends informed about your whereabouts

IMPORTANT Avoid wearing precious Jewellery while trekking, as Travel Trikon won’t be responsible for any losses for the same. This is a trek in the Himalayas where there is rarely any infrastructure; so please do not expect luxurious hotels for overnight stays or AC vehicles for transportation Rs. 10,000 needs to be deposited for booking which is non-refundable. Rest of the payment to be done 14 days before the event start date.

This is an adventure trip, where any unforeseen circumstances may contribute to the need for a change in itinerary. In such situations, we or your trek leader will suggest the best alternative similar to your original itinerary. In case of alternate plan, the expenses towards the same shall be borne by the participant.

Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Smoking is strictly not allowed. Anybody found smoking or consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without refund.

Fitness & Health – Though trekking is a fun-filled activity, it demands good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over the counter medication for temporary treatment, so do give a heads up to them if you need any medical assistance.

Important Information: Dear Trikoners, always remember SHOES are your best companion on a trek! Please wear a good pair of TREKKING SHOES and not sports or running shoes. Make sure they are durable and firm enough to withstand tough conditions. You can carry floaters to wear only after the trek is completed. Feel free to contact Trikoner buddies prior to the trek in case of any confusion.
