Day 1 : 24th October , Tuesday - Overnight Drive from Delhi to McLeodganj

Meet Travel Trikon Team at ISBT Kashmere Gate (also known as Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminal) at 06.00 P.M. From thereon we shall take an overnight bus to McLeodganj. The distance from Delhi to McLeodganj is 477.5 kms (approx) which shall take 8-9 hours to reach our destination. We shall be passing through the terrains of Chandigarh and Dharamshala. McLeodganj is situated in the suburban part of Dharmashala, at a distance of 9kms. Moving away from the bustling life of the Capital, you will enter an altogether different world of Tibetan culture, food, artwork, serenity and spirituality. Make sure you catch some sleep during the bus travel, as you have busy days scheduled ahead of you.

Day 2 : 25th October , Wednesday - Explore McLeodganj and nearby sightseeing

Begin your day with heavy breakfast and pack enough energy as you will be exploring this small town, which is known worldwide for the presence of Dalai Lama. Nestled between the folds of the majestic Dhauladhar ranges and with verdant greenery, McLeodganj serves as an absolute retreat to your eyes. Due to the prominent influence of the Tibetan population, this place provides you a beautiful blend of Tibetan culture with various delicacies from all around the world.

In close proximity to the Bhagsunath Temple and amidst the lustrous greenery, situated are the Bhagsu waterfalls. It is an exact replica of one’s computer desktop wallpaper. The locals here proudly exclaim that while one is at McLeodganj, the Bhagsu Waterfalls should not be missed. The gushing water flows along the silhouettes of the dense Deodar trees and falls over the sedimentary rocks, creating an amazing picturesque. Take a dip or two in these falls and unwind yourself to its breathtaking beauty. Just next to the falls, lies Shiva Café, a famous spot for backpackers. Chill here for a while!

Day 3 : 26th October , Thursday - Climb, Rappel and Cross - An adventure packed day near Kareri Village

Wake up early in the morning and post breakfast we shall proceed towards the Kakeri Village. While you are with Travel Trikon, all your travel arrangements are taken care of by us. The drive through the beautiful tall pine forests and across several tribal villages will surely leave you amazed. Keep your cameras handy as you are on a ride filled with amazing views.

Unwind yourself to the scenic beauty of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges hovering over you and spreading out in all its grandeur. If the sky is clear, you will catch the Dhauladhars glowing red in the evening light making it a mesmerizing view created by the magic wand of nature. Enjoy and feel the adrenaline rush with rock climbing, rappelling and river crossing arranged by your leader. Overnight - Experience the thrills of spending the night in in a traditional Kangra Home in Kareri village.

Day 4 : 27th October , Friday - Trek from Kareri Village to Routi

Bid goodbye to your hosts at the homestay as we leave early to head towards Routi. Proceed towards the back of the campsite, from where we take a steep climb towards the Kareri Trail. The dense forest of oak, rhododendron and pine beckons us as we continue on the trail. As we climb further, you will see an overbridge and beneath it the gurgling river of Kareri. Cross the bridge and continue with the ascent towards the true left of the river, climbing straight along the Kareri stream. You will come across diversifying trails on this trek. It is better to follow the sounds of the river coming down and stick to the way on the left side.

Take sufficient number of halts on the way to drink water or eat some munchies. There are multiple fresh water ponds from where you can refill your water bottles.

Carry on the trail and you will soon observe small pretty huts made out of the animal dung and stones known as Gaddi houses which belong to the Gaddi community. Right opposite to inhabitation, lies our campsite – Routi

Day 5 : 28th October , Saturday - Trek from Routi to Kareri Lake and Explore its surroundings

Wake up to the morning of the final leg of the trek. Make sure you eat a heavy breakfast and gain as much energy as possible for the concluding ascent. All along your ascent towards the Kareri Lake or the Kareri Tal, you will be accompanied by the beautiful rhododendron flowers dancing to the tunes of the cool winds. If you are into Ornithology, then this is one of those trek which will provide you multiple occasions to spot Snow Cock, Koklas, Himalayan Monal, Snow Pigeon, Pheasant and Western Tragopan. Make sure you have your binoculars or camera handy.

Cross over a few valleys and continue your ascent amongst the forests of Oak and Spruce trees. You will soon be embraced by green grassy meadows with smoking blue clouds adding vibrant colors to the beautiful canvas painted by nature. Located on the top of the hill, stands a Shiva temple with concrete stairs which directly leads down to the elliptical lake. Welcome to the dreamland of serenity and magic. Day 6 : 29th October , Sunday - Descend back and take a plunge into the natural pools!

This day marks a less strenuous descent to Kareri Village. Post breakfast, you head back on the same route and embark your journey towards Kareri Village. On reaching the village, keep your luggages and daypacks at the homestay and treat yourself in the clear cool waters of Kareri to wash the exhaustion and sweat from the descent. Binge on some tea and snacks and enjoy the rest of the evening. Overnight at Kareri Village homestay

Day 7 : 30th October , Monday - Drive from Kareri Village to McLeodganj, Overnight drive back to Delhi

It is time to say bye to the amazing nature and head towards McLeodganj. We shall be halting at Dharamkot which is near to McLeodganj and is one of those must-visit places while you are near Dharamshala. Dharamkot is also known as the Yoga Village and is relatively calmer as compared to McLeodganj. Explore the unknown waterfalls and roam on the narrow roads of Dharamkot which leads you to some view points or the other. While you are at Dharamkot, the food served at the numerous cafes located all over this place won’t leave you disappointed. Hop onto the bus to Delhi and bid goodbye to the amazing mountains.

Day 8 : 01st November , Tuesday - Reach Delhi

Travel suggestions:

● For participants arriving by flight or by train to Delhi, please ensure that you book an early flight in order to reach the Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate latest by 6: 00 PM.

● For departures, those flying out/boarding a train out of Delhi, it is advisable to book the mode of transport only after 11.00 am

Things to Carry

● A photocopy of your Identity Proof (Passport / Voter ID Card/PAN Card/Aadhar Card/ Driving License) ● Backpack or Haversack – If you are offloading your Haversack, you will need a small daypack to carry your basic essentials ● Good trekking shoes and a pair of slip-ons, if required for campsite ● 2 Water Bottles (1 litre each) ● Woolen or Fleece Gloves and a pair of waterproof gloves ● Cotton socks and woolen socks (2 pairs each) ● Balaclava, Woolen scarf – If you do not have a Balaclava, you can carry Monkey cap instead ● Thermal Inners ● Fleece Jacket, Snow Jacket or Padded Jacket (1 each) ● Windcheater or Poncho ● 2-3 pairs of trek pants ● 2 collared and full sleeved t-shirts – Do not carry loose t-shirts as they tend to make you feel cold ● Camera ● Ready to eat snacks, Enerzyl Powder or Glucon D Powder – Carry nuts, dryfruits, energy bars to munch during the trek. They provide instant energy whenever it hits the lower base. ● Cap, Sunglasses - Do ensure that your sunglasses are UV Protected. Do not carry reflectors. ● Headlamp/LED Torch – Mandatory ● Toiletries – Sunscreen, Moisturizer, light towel, lip balm, wet wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, Hand Sanitizer, Mosquito repellent, if required ● Polythene Bags or Zip-lock Bags – These help to segregate wet clothes, used wet wipes or sanitary napkins on trek ● Any medicines that you normally consume - Please consult your doctor in this regard

IMPORTANT: ★ Avoid wearing precious Jewelry on event, as Travel Trikon won’t be responsible for any losses for the same. ★ Missing the train means missing the event, no refunds would be entertained by Travel Trikon

Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Anybody found consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without refund. Selling of Tobacco products in Bhutan is strictly banned. Anyone found selling Tobacco products will lead to severe punishment. However, tourists may bring in Tobacco Products after paying 200% imports duty with no more than 200 sticks of Cigarette. However please note that, Smoking in Public is strictly banned and a punishable offence.

Fitness & Health – Though trekking is a fun-filled activity, it demands good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over the counter medication for temporary treatment, so do give a heads up to them if you need any medical assistance.
