Untamed Tadoba - Tadoba Andhari TIger Reserve
Described as timid, secretive, and essentially solitary, the tiger is a fearless fighter who is regarded as the master of stealth. An ancient symbol of Power, Royalty and Respect, for centuries he has retained the crown of the apex predator.
We welcome you to join us on our journey to visit Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), one of the country's oldest national parks, famous for the nation's pride - the Royal Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris).
We will visit the core and buffer zones of the forest in open jeep safaris. Along with tigers, we hope to spot some of the other endangered animals who call Tadoba their home, for e.g. the Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild dogs and a variety of birds. We will stay in a jungle lodge for 3 days and enjoy some great conversations that really make our trips a memorable experience.
Free time during the first three days may be utilized in your own way. We recommend you carry books, notepads, drawing sheets, personal gadgets or simply interact with each other.
The Weather in Tadoba will be hot (29°C) during the day time and pleasant in the evening (12°C), so please select your clothing accordingly. Light colored full body clothing, preferably cotton or linen would be most appropriate.
Tadoba Andhari Reserve is the largest national park in Maharashtra. The Total area of the Reserve is 1727 km². This includes Tadoba National Park, created in 1955.
'Tadoba' is the name of the God "Tadoba" or "Taru", praised by the tribal people who live in the dense forests of the Tadoba and Andhari region, while the Andhari River that meanders through the forest thus gives the 'Andhari' name.
The Gond kings once ruled these forests in the vicinity of the Chimur hills. In 1955, 116.54 km2 (45.00 sq mi) was declared a National Park. Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary was created on the adjacent forests in 1986, and in 1995, both the park and the sanctuary were merged to establish the present Tiger Reserve.
Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra is the oldest national park in the state. It houses several endangered species. The apex species of the reserve is the tiger. The leopard and the jungle cat are some of the other carnivores that share these forests. The jackal, hyena, Indian wild dog, civet, and the sloth bear may also be encountered. The reserve is also renowned for the gaur. Large herds of chital and sambar may be seen. The sturdy nilgai and the swift-footed four-horned antelope are also residents of this reserve. The muntjac (barking deer), chevrotain (mouse deer), common langur, flying squirrel and wild pig also abound.
